Library Long Range Plan
Putting Best Practices to Work
Introduction
A committee of 10 residents that represented various constituents of the library developed the 2001-2006 Long Range Plan over a five month period. Its theme, Putting Best Practices to Work, reflects an emphasis on operating processes and procedures to keep the materials, facilities, technologies and services of the library current and responsive to the needs of the community. The Library Board of Trustees approved the plan on February 13, 2001.
Plan Overview
The Long Range Plan has four major Service Responses:
Service Response #1 Commons
The Medfield Memorial Public Library provides a center for meetings, exhibits, and displays that is accessible, inviting and safe for all.
Service Response #2- Current Topics & Titles
Patrons of the Medfield Memorial Public Library will have access to current books, periodicals and multimedia that reflect their preferences. The purpose of these materials will be to satisfy their interest in popular social trends, to expand their knowledge of contemporary culture, and to make their leisure time more productive and enjoyable through recreational reading, viewing and listening opportunities.
Service Response #3 - General Information
The Medfield Memorial Public Library provides the people of Medfield with a skilled staff and a core collection of materials to answer questions relating to school, work and personal life.
Service Response #4 - Lifelong Learning
The Medfield Memorial Public Library supports all levels of formal education as well as individual efforts at self-enrichment. Through our collection and the collections available through the Minuteman Library Network, the library strives to provide all patrons with requested intellectual, recreational and practical information. This material will be available in a variety of formats, including electronic resources.
