The Friends of the Library sponsor all children’s programs

Check out our summer outer space theme. Please come in and join in the extraterrestrial fun. We will have storytimes, special events, crafts, an estimation "star jar" and the summer reading program.

Special Programs

Blast Off With Books
Saturday, June 27

Mike Bent performs his state-of-the-art magic show especially adapted to our summer outer space reading theme. There will be big laughs and hilarious surprises as he interacts with the audience. Come and enjoy.

Storytelling

Kurt Jackson will entertain us with some spacey mid-summer
tales that are sure to please. Just drop-in.

Music and Imagination

Celebrate our summer space adventure with music and dance by Elaine Kessler. Come join us. Free tickets available starting July 27.

Galileo’s Vision
Tuesday, August 11
7:30 – 8:30 pm in Meeting Room followed by
9:00 – 10:00 pm on Hospital Hill
Ages 7 and up

In celebration of the International Year of Astronomy in 2009, the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. will present a special indoor program about Galileo’s telescope. A slide show and demonstrations will show how Galileo changed our cosmic perspective forever. Afterwards, observe the Perseids Meteor Shower, Jupiter, and double stars through Aldrich telescopes or bring your own (weather permitting).

Free tickets available from August 3.

Pick up a Reading Log in the Children’s Room beginning Monday, June 22. All ages are included.

The goal is to read or be read to for at least one hour each week. Color one star in your log each week.
Bring your log to the library every week to receive a sticker and a free book if you have achieved the goal of one hour.

If you participate for all 8 weeks, June 22 to August 14, you will receive a coupon for a Friendly’s ice cream cone.

Summer Vacation Crafts
Monday, June 22 to Friday, August 14

Drop in for do-it-yourself crafts on weekdays. Our theme is outer space.

"Star Jar" Estimation Station

You will have a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to Park Street Books every week from June 22 to August 14. Come guess the number of candies or toys in our jar. We will award the prize each Monday.

STORY TIMES

Story times are on a drop-in basis. No registration is required. Open to Medfield residents only. For everyone’s enjoyment, please respect the age limits and be on time for programs.

Pattycake Place
Ages 0, 1 & 2

Our youngest visitors will enjoy stories and rhymes.
Come sing, dance and clap along with us!

Story Corner
Ages 3, 4 & 5
Wednesdays, 11:30 - noon

Drop in for rhymes, songs, and stories with the felt board and puppets. We will make a simple craft and have fun with great books about summer and outer space.

Lunch Bunch
All ages
Tuesdays, 12:00 – 12:30

Join me at the gazebo with a blanket and a picnic lunch. Sit on the lawn and enjoy listening to summertime stories.

PJ Storytimes

Ages 3 and up

Wear your pajamas, bring your teddy bear, and curl up for some bedtime tales read by our special guest readers. We will listen to the stories and have a snack in the Children’s Room.
