Annual Creative Writing Award

The Friends of the Library are proud to sponsor an annual creative writing competition each spring.

At graduation, the Friends grant a $1000 award to a senior. This scholarship was started in 1986 in memory of Amy Fiske, a Medfield high school student who worked at the library prior to her untimely death in 1985.

In addition, the Friends award $300 to a junior, $200 to a sophomore, $100 to a freshman in the spring at Class Day.

The submission guidelines are:

  • Submissions may be one piece of prose or poetry, which need not reflect a particular theme.
  • Entries can be school assignments free of teacher comments or work completed independently.
  • The writerís name should not appear on the submission. Please put it on an attached cover sheet with name, grade, address and phone.
  • Submissions must arrive at the Medfield Public Library whether hand-delivered or mailed by the due date. No late submissions will be considered.
  • Submission will be judged anonymously, on originality and writing skill, by an independent panel of judges.
